It is finally happening folks and the much used Activities Module is being phased out and replaced by three separate Modules called Calls, Tasks and Meetings.
Why might you ask?
There are many feature requests that were not possible within just the one Activities module and I cover some of them below:
Mass Delete – All of our CRMs can suffer from unwanted activities that have been incorrectly set up or have simply not been closed off when completed. Well, we will now be able to delete en masse from the individual modules so happy bulk deleting days are here! Always best left to an Administrator and controlled centrally please!
Profile Permissions – Ever wanted to give your telesales agents access to all Calls, but not Meetings? With separate modules you can now limit permissions with the usual View, Credit, Edit, Delete options! Bravo Zoho!
Reporting – This just got a lot more flexible as you can select individual modules to report separately on Calls, Tasks & Meetings, and of course you can also create independent components for Dashboards and the Homepages! Having said that, despite this split-up, there will be a few places where the Tasks, Calls and Meetings will be grouped together, as that would be useful too!
So, how does this affect new CRM users and what about existing customers?
For new CRM users:
New users will never know there was an Activities Module as they will only ever see the separate Tasks, Calls and Meetings modules.
For existing CRM users:
For all existing CRM users, the Activities module will be retained temporarily, but they will also see Tasks, Calls and Meetings in separate modules so that customers have time to familiarise themselves with these modules individually. However, in the Activities module, you will not be able to create/edit custom views and also the Open/Closed Activities Related list cannot be customised, so please be aware of that. Eventually, the Activities module will be discontinued and hopefully Zoho will give us a final heads-up before it is jettisoned forever!
That’s all folks! Get in touch if any of these changes are of concern and we will conduct a free impact assessment!
